UNB Centre for Learning Futures and Crisis-Ready Workplace have partnered to support practical education in psychological health and safety, early intervention and workplace crisis readiness.

The partnership brings together the Centre’s experience in Occupational Health and Safety and Psychological Health and Safety education with Crisis-Ready Workplace’s applied approach to intervention and crisis readiness.

Crisis-Ready Interventionist Certification

The first course offered through the partnership is the Crisis-Ready Interventionist Certification, taking place at UNB Centre for Learning Futures on October 19th & 20th, 2026.

This intensive, two-day course is designed to help participants develop practical skills to recognize workplace concerns early, respond appropriately during high-stress situations and help connect colleagues with suitable support.

  • Psychological safety and workplace crisis readiness;

  • Early signs of distress, impairment and risk;

  • Duty to Inquire;

  • Supportive intervention conversations;

  • Trauma-informed response principles;

  • Verbal de-escalation techniques; and

  • Common actions that can help prevent situations from escalating.

Through structured instruction, facilitated discussion and scenario-based practice, participants will explore:

  • Occupational Health and Safety professionals;

  • Human Resources professionals;

  • Workplace and organizational leaders;

  • Educators and institutional leaders;

  • Healthcare and public-sector professionals;

  • Consultants and organizational advisors; and

  • Others who help support employee well-being.

Connecting knowledge with practical application

The Crisis-Ready Interventionist Certification complements the Centre’s existing Psychological Health and Safety programming by focusing on practical approaches participants can apply when workplace concerns or high-stress situations arise.

It is intended to help learners move beyond awareness by building greater confidence in early recognition, supportive communication and appropriate workplace response.
